My name is Matt and this is my blog. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
This site is where I write about three things: the technology work that’s filled my career, the games I sink my free time into, and the family that keeps me honest. It’s a chance to express myself creatively, help other technologists with the challenges I’ve run into, share what’s going on with my family, show off my questionable gaming skills, and maybe meet some new people along the way.
I’m 50 years old and live in Northern California. For the past 30 years, I’ve focused my career in Information Technology. I’ve been very lucky to work for great companies and great people who gave me the opportunities to learn a great deal about how to be successful in the IT field, and in business. At the same time, I’ve worked for poor managers, failed companies, and teams that didn’t value teamwork. My hope is to share what I’ve learned and turn it into something that helps others who might need it.
When I’m not functioning as a strategic advisor to my customers, I spend my time with my wife, Melissa, and my two children, Jameson and Liliana. They’re what drive me to be a better husband, father, and just a better person overall. I do well, but in my mind, I fail at it more than I admit — and that drives me to do better.
In my free time, whenever it comes, I game. I have a passion for it — I love the stories, the exploration, and the conversations that sometimes come from online gaming. At the same time, I hate them. I’ll get more into why at some point, but the truth is I love gaming and everything it brings to the table.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by — drop a line if you’d like.
